Sophia Lacroix is a Haitian-born American hyper-realist award-winning artist
She prides herself in creating highly detailed, meticulous and brightly colored oil-on-canvas paintings. Her style is Realism or Photo-realism as her imagery looks realistic and true to life. Sophia paints about her homeland of Haiti where she was born and raised and aims through her market scenes and other realistic and vibrant scenes of daily life in the countryside of Haiti to transport you right into her paintings and into a nostalgic scene of the Haiti of her childhood. That is why one of Sophia's favorite comments from people who have seen her works for the first time is that "one can almost walk into one of your paintings.
Haitian-born self-taught American artist and Hollywood resident, Sophia Lacroix, invites the community to celebrate Haitian culture through food and art on May 18th, during Haitian Heritage Month, by viewing her hyper-realistic paintings about typically Haitian recipes.

Sophia invites the community to celebrate her beloved Haitian culture by joining her at her exhibit’s opening reception on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at the Hollywood Branch Library from 12 pm to 4 pm. You will view her new original oil paintings and drawings, and sample some of the recipes featured in her paintings which are inspired by the cooking of her friend, Mrs. Gladys Mesidor (Grandma Daille). This event will showcase Broward County’s cultural diversity while promoting diversity awareness through the sharing of things everyone enjoys and cherishes, food and art.
